Lycidas was born to the Kisne tribe in Rabanastre. He lived there for a little over half a century with his mother, Delia. Delia was his world, she’d do anything for her young kit, considering they were all each other had; Lycidas’ father passed before he was born. The two lived a decent fortunate life in Rabanastre, enjoying what the city had to offer the two of them. Delia never had trouble caring for her son with such living conditions. Once Lycidas became an adult, he looked after his mother as she aged. But all comes to an end in one way or another.At age 55, Lycidas lost everything he knew and held dear. Delia was slaughtered by Garlean forces invading the city, while her son was out hunting and gathering for the two of them. Lycidas was mournful for quite some time and beats himself up, still to this day, for not being around to defend her. This led the Veena down a darker, yet a turning point in his life.Lycidas was alone and thought if there was just one way, to get in contact with her again, he’d give anything for it. He began to follow the path of necromancy and ouija, to get in touch with Delia. Several attempts were made but he was unable to speak to her, however he did summon another being that aided him. A demon named Thamuz, appeared one night to him and said he could grant Lycidas his wish to be in contact with his mother until they reunite in the next life. Thamuz did WARN that if accepted, Lycidas would be able to see his mother but unable to hear her, or anything else, ever again. However this did not stop the rebel veena. Delia now shows up in the form of a small bat, the two are able to speak through echolocation, while he can’t hear normal sounds, he can sense beats every so often. (formerly, see Character Development below)Lucifer, ruler of the underworld was furious about Lycidas stealing back Delia. He demands Lycidas to discontinue his speaking with his mother, or bad things would be brewing for him. Lycidas vehemently declines and continues to contact his mother.A week later, Delia mentioned something is coming for him and to be wary. One day, exploring the grave sites of Dalmasca, he is confronted by a large voidsent, 20 fulms in height, pitch black in color, with two large front fangs and glowing red eyes. Lycidas tries to fight the voidsent and fails, almost losing his life. While clinging to consciousness, the voidsent bites into Lycidas’ neck, filling him with disease and dark aether. Black bloodshots run down his body until he loses some of his skin pigment and his irises glow red like the monster. The voidsent escapes back to the underworld after. Lycidas has not seen it since.The new ailment made the veena slightly weak to sunlight, and when he tried to eat any real food, sick to his stomach. He now could smell the life essence of others and has to consume spiritual and physical essence of other living beings to survive. He does not tell anyone of this and tends to only hunt for prey when others are usually slumbering. Though at times it can be hard to contain himself, having an insatiable lust for aether and flesh.
Recent Character Development: Lycidas has recently seen his mother back into the Thirteenth. Delia mentioned there was trouble occurring in her home, and she needed to be there to fight alongside a voidsent companion, known for their ability to crystallize dark aether. Delia mentioned to Keira and Lycidas, that they are able to travel from the Void and the Source with ease, with Lycidas being a hybrid, but he needed to keep the hyuran girl safe from insatiable voidsent looking for fresh aether. Since the curse tieing Delia's soul to the Source was lifted once she returned to the Void, Lycidas immediately regained his ability to hear, after over 50 summers of lacking the ability. He was overwhelmed with emotion, to not only be able to see, but /hear/ his beautiful lover! The two plan to take many journeys into the Void for their mother, Delia.

A Chaotic neutral who acts out of his own will depending on how he feels, regardless of if it’s morally right, though he does like to break the rules. Lycidas is happy just having a book in hand and coffee in another. Coffee is what he consumes during the day, when around others, to suppress his urge for more. Usually he enjoys tomes of horror, suspenseful realism, or summoning. He likes the solitude and it helps him meditate, unless he gets an itch for companionship.Another one of Lycidas favorite things to do, is participate in intimate physical activity. Like his life essence pursuit, he has an insatiable desire to intertwine with a lily, and pleasurably pierce it like a blade. He enjoyed the lifestyle of having various casual relations. However, in recent light, he has had a change of heart. Lycidas has began to fall for a charming hyuran woman, Keira Miller. The two share a love of eroticism, and know each other's secrets. As of late, the veena only has eyes for her.Lycidas also does not mind unpleasant sensations on his physical form, as he feels it is a way the universe is restoring balance and granting his karma.
